perhaps in the patent pictures of various different inventions, however, not a spring invention but more like where a certain company might register a particular design or show a particular spring configuration , something like that, maybe.there was less manufacturing of certain items, so less companies with limited styles, compared with nowadays. also, i doubt that the sofa bed was imported, and it was probably a cheaper type of furniture , rather than quality. also, this would account for the probable unfinished spring ends that could have made the dot impression wounds. keep in mind that this entirely speculation. also check the hinge on the right, if you happen to find a likely bed, and see if it could have caused the temple wound. ciao.

one more thing, since i have no training, the brown mark that looks like a rope was around beth's neck, this looks like restraint, since there are no vessels in the eyes that look broken such in strangulation. does the brown mark mean that this is while she was alive, though, could the mark be made by the collection of blood that is not moving in the body , if the rope was put there after death? it could be like when the body is in one position and gravity makes the blood put colors on the skin because of the collection of the blood. thanks for the answer, if someone can tell me.

what i was attempting to communicate is that the autopsy photos, prior to the sewing of the mouth, in the nearest state of the body when it was discovered, even at the crime scene, the facial wounds are talking to us.so are the other wounds, of course, lets concentrate on the face right now. the wounds tell us if the cuts were made before or after she was dead. the body slows the bleeding till it stops because when dead the pumping of the heart stops, so this is how to tell what is pre or post mortem. some people don't know this, if you do, sorry, i am trying to communicate with everyone equally.the reason that i am mentioning this is because we also can hear what the wounds say as far as what type of instrument or object the wounds were made with. again, basic easy stuff, the stuff television shows teach. we can apply it to the elizabeth short case, though, even though our access to much data is limited.
the face should be enlarged and magnification as well as filter color, as the computer can do for us, reveals some things such as the tiny dots on the surface of the skin / there are more types of wounds, so this one , the dots, should take its own category , then we can look at the total picture with all the pieces. the dots appear to be at an equidistance from each other, somewhat of a grid or graph type of thing, such as a manufactured item that would be formed to be geometrically based, rather than the dots being a result of a random poking. the dots seem to be more indentations rather than deliberate stabs into the skin. the size seems to be the diameter of an icepick, perhaps. yet, not a pointed item sharp enough to pierce the skin with light contact. on closer inspection , it is revealed that there are straight lines connecting with these dots , again, impression type formation, not cuts through the skin. the lines form a grid or graph type of shape and this is definately not done freehand , but it is some type of manufacted item, sort of a chicken wire fence type of item, i would imagine, or what about the springs that could have been the key to fit with arnold smith jack wilson , ( severed book by john gilmore), claim to have hit ms. short, and she fell on her face, face first into the open sofa bed, hitting the side of the couch perhaps, on her temple, where the hole seems to have been the basis of her bleeding to death, internally, perhaps a concussion in the skull temporal , the temple, i am not all that educated to the acadmic words, but you know what i am talking about. the face could have been ripped, to the point where jack knew he had no choice but to kill her. if someone were skilled in matching wounds with springs for day bed sofas of that era, there could maybe be a match. i tried. its too tedious and i am not patient enough for the job. but i wanted to share it, some other people may want to take this on. thanks everyone.

Brought over from the other board as posted by Guests cannot see links in posts.:

Quote:Hi,

Below is a press release I received about a new bus tour pertaining to the Black Dahlia murder and a history of Beth Short:

LOS ANGELES- On September 25, the eclectic bus adventure company Esotouric offers its most popular true crime tour, THE REAL BLACK DAHLIA.

Since January 1947, this one iconic murder mystery has lingered unsolved at the forefront of the American imagination, with dozens of books, films and websites dedicated to solving the slaying of Beth Short, the Massachusetts girl who came to Hollywood hoping to make it, and ended up cut in two in a vacant lot. Suspects in the Black Dahlia murder have included L.A. Times publisher Norman Chandler and Orson Welles, crazed lesbians, twisted drifters and more than one writer's father, but still the mystery abides.

The Real Black Dahlia tour dedicates itself to revealing who victim Elizabeth Short really was by exploring her life in Los Angeles from mid 1946 to her January 1947 murder through examination of the police investigation and news coverage. The various theories are up for discussion during the onboard Q&A sections, and the hosts share their idea of who the killer might have been, but the focus is firmly on the 22-year-old woman whose death continues to fascinate. Along the way, passengers will explore the social history of postwar Los Angeles and its lively downtown scene and learn the role the city played in Short's mysterious death.

The tour begins at the Biltmore Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles, where Beth Short went after checking her bags at the Greyhound Terminal. Passengers will tour the beautifully restored hotel before heading south, to the low rent Olive Street bar where she met her murderer. The Downtown portion of the tour includes the Examiner newspaper offices, where the crime became myth as pioneering female City Editor Aggie Underwood spun the case for weeks, and the Figueroa Hotel, where Short stayed in happier times.

The bus then heads west towards Leimert Park and the formerly vacant lot where Short's bisected body was discovered on January 15, 1947. Also in this neighborhood, passengers visit the site of another unsolved 1947 kidnap-murder and the home of Dr. Walter Bayley, who has emerged in recent years as the most compelling suspect, with his personal ties to Beth Short's family and the crime scene, and the surgical skill needed to bisect the body. The tour includes a cop-approved snack stop for Krispy Kreme donuts near the body dump site.

Also featured: a special presentation from cosmetics historian Joan Renner exploring Beth Short's unusual proto-goth make up, so different from the popular girl next store look of 1947, and a key to understanding her psychology.

Passengers on this eye-opening and informative tour will leave with a new understanding of the Black Dahlia case and what it was like to be a single woman in 1940s Los Angeles. It is highly recommended for natives and newcomers, crime and history buffs and anyone who likes to seek out the unexpected.

Guests cannot see links in posts.

Quote:As someone who has lived in Los Angeles for 15 years now, I can tell you Larry Harnisch's theory holds merit.

WALKING A MILE
An earlier post said it was a "stretch" that Beth would walk in the dark one mile to a doctor's office. Actually, Angelenos walk a mile in downtown Los Angeles all the time. In the dark, believe it or not. Not because it's safe, but because they're with friends or they have a trusting attitude or because the bus stops often drop off within a mile from your destination, so it's not uncommon. Back in 1947, I wouldn't doubt Beth had a more trusting attitude than she might have if she lived in modern times.

BAYLEY'S ASSOCIATION
Also, I want to clarify Harnisch's remarks about Dr. Bayley's daughter, Barbara's, association with Beth Short's sister, Virginia. Not only did Dr. Bayley and his wife live very close to the Biltmore and to Dr. Bayley's office, but they offered their home to Virginia as the wedding venue for Virginia's wedding wherein she married her husband, Adrian. This indicates Dr. Bayley and his wife knew Virginia as she was a good friend of Barbara Lindgren's.

In light of this, if Beth Short showed up at the Biltmore Hotel completely broke and with no place to go (according to Mary Pacios, witnesses placed her there and also reported her frequent trips back and forth from the lobby to the phone booth), it stands to reason that she may have called Dr. Bayley for help.

CLEO AS A SAFETY NET . . . OR NOT
Also, an earlier post indicated Cleo, Beth's father, lived near the Biltmore. According to Cleo, he and Beth had a falling out and Beth was asked to leave his home. Obviously, this means Cleo was not an option for Beth.

We'll never really know what the real story is, but it is possible that Beth walked to the doctor's office. Another possibility is that the doctor drove to the Biltmore and that Beth met him outside instead of having him come in to retrieve her. It is also possible that they met up at a halfway point to where his car was parked, especially if his office was closing up shop for the night and he was leaving his office.

The other consideration is this: as close as Dr. Bayley's connection was with Virginia, standard investigation practices should have revealed this connection and Dr. Bayley should have been explored as a suspect yet he was never listed as an official suspect. Either someone covered for Dr. Bayley and provided an alibi (most likely Dr. Alexandra, his medical partner) or the police decided an old, white, male physician couldn't possibly have committed such an atrocity, against an unmarried, although white, female, penniless, homeless drifter with nowhere to go.

Seems to me Dr. Bayley would not have gone down for this murder even if law enforcement knew it was him.

(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:14:39 -0500) alecker231: Sadly, I know that Beth murder was never solved...
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:15:02 -0500) marypacios: I don't have the same energy I had a few years ago. I reread thee old gossip columns a year or so ago. They tracked the moveements of celebrities
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:15:05 -0500) Briar: have you spoken with Brian Carr's replacement as keeper of the case?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:15:57 -0500) marypacios: I didn't know Brian Carr was replaced. I've been out of touch with my old contacts.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:16:05 -0500) Noir_Falcon: Bette can be seen in a few photos with a navy flyer named Tim Mehringer. As both Bette and Tim have different clothes on and hairstyles in each it signifies some passage of time. In your research have you found anything out about Tim Mehringer?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:16:51 -0500) Briar: Carr retired.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:18:09 -0500) marypacios: I never located Tim. I did my research before the advent of the Internet. The Internet would have been a great resource and possibly helped me to locate people.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:18:50 -0500) Noir_Falcon: Okay, thanks, Mary. I located him in 1950 in Florida through Jax Air News.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:20:07 -0500) marypacios: You located him in person in 1950? Or in a 1950 magazine?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:20:26 -0500) Noir_Falcon: Two newspaper articles.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:20:32 -0500) Noir_Falcon: I posted here.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:20:41 -0500) Briar: He seemed to pop up rather often in pictures of Beth
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:20:57 -0500) Noir_Falcon: I don't know if he's still alive...
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:22:27 -0500) marypacios: So many pictures. right now I can't recall his face.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:22:45 -0500) Phoebe_Caulfield: Mary, when you interviewed Aggie Underwood's daughter-in-law - did you see any of the notes etc that Underwood and Dr. de River made, and was there any mention of Orson Welles?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:24:17 -0500) marypacios: I did not see any notes. No one was mentioned by name. I had an interesting chat with de River's daughter and she talked to me about the tactics used to smear him and get rid f him.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:24:34 -0500) Briar: he was cropped from the pics, wasn't he noir?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:25:02 -0500) Phoebe_Caulfield: Did you get the feeling that he was on the right track?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:26:35 -0500) marypacios: Well, Dr. de River was delving into new psychiatric areas.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:27:53 -0500) Briar: That article revealed a great deal about welles that i didn't know.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:28:13 -0500) kingsta_ja: Mary, when you interviewed them for your book, did Elizabeth's sisters show you any photos that we have not seen in books or online?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:30:16 -0500) marypacios: Yes. But the photo that her mother liked best is the photo that is on the cover of my book. The shame is that the family does not have many photos. They should have been given back Bette's photo album.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:30:31 -0500) alecker231: Mary,what happen with Beth sisters?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:30:42 -0500) Noir_Falcon: Guests cannot see images in posts. borrowed and not returned...
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:30:42 -0500) Briar: yes they should have
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:31:04 -0500) Briar: her family was not respected at all
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:31:51 -0500) marypacios: Her eldest and mother died a few years ago. I am not sure if the other three girls are still alive,
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:32:13 -0500) alecker231: Virginia is dead?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:33:16 -0500) marypacios: The family ignores the press.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:33:33 -0500) Phoebe_Caulfield: I'm not surprised
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:34:04 -0500) Briar: Who most resembled her?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:34:05 -0500) marypacios: Virginia died a few years ago.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:34:17 -0500) alecker231: I see
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:35:08 -0500) marypacios: I wonder if Bette would be treated as badly by today's press.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:35:41 -0500) Briar: i don't think so
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:35:42 -0500) Phoebe_Caulfield: There seems to be a bit more sensitivity & respect now.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:36:35 -0500) marypacios: But, ironically, some people still treat Bette in the same way,
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:36:47 -0500) Briar: it was horrific to me how she was victimized from the moment she came up missing thru the press treatment and even the the LAPD
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:37:16 -0500) marypacios: Noir-Falcon -- thanks for the link.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:38:08 -0500) Noir_Falcon: No worries. Mehringer was cropped out of one photo in the papers... Mary, recently an LAPD Homicide Exhibition displayed a photo of Bette sitting on the beach in FL we'd all seen before but with a blonde man who had previously been cropped out. Do you know who the blonde man might be?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:39:04 -0500) Briar: Mary, Noir is a tireless researcher. The forum here is of huge value because of the dedicated research and the main site is a treasure trove.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:39:11 -0500) marypacios: It's a shame the packet mailed by the killer was lost by the police. It would have DNA behind the stamp.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:39:18 -0500) Noir_Falcon: Guests cannot see links in posts. - Photo of Beth with 2 men on beach
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:41:22 -0500) Noir_Falcon: DNA would be amazing... I'll try another link.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:41:49 -0500) Phoebe_Caulfield: where do you think all that stuff is now, Mary?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:42:36 -0500) marypacios: What is left of the stuff would still be with the police.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:42:46 -0500) Phoebe_Caulfield: I mean the missing materials.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:43:59 -0500) Briar: do you believe the missing evidence is truly missing by accident? Or that there was someone being protected?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:44:15 -0500) marypacios: With unknown police and reporters. Where have people gotten all the photos that surfaced over the years?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:44:47 -0500) Phoebe_Caulfield: shameful.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:44:50 -0500) Briar: exactly.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:44:59 -0500) marypacios: I tend to think that people just stole from the files.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:46:38 -0500) Briar: but even the autopsy seems bungled beyond simple mistakes
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:48:08 -0500) marypacios: Well, in 1947 doctors didn't have the skills and expertise they have today.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:48:49 -0500) alecker231: And DNA don't exist
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:49:27 -0500) Briar: i realize that, but things were thrown out or mishandled. It seems beyond simple mistakes.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:49:36 -0500) marypacios: So much about what occurred can only be conjecture
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:49:47 -0500) kingsta_ja: Mary, is there anything is Elizabeth's personality or traits that stands out in your memory?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:50:27 -0500) Noir_Falcon: Guests cannot see links in posts. - photo on beach is here
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:51:59 -0500) marypacios: Everyone liked her. She was beautiful and sexy but not stuck up.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:52:24 -0500) alecker231: She was friendly...
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:52:52 -0500) marypacios: Noir_Falcon: New link sent me to a discussion about Tim, not the photos
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:53:18 -0500) marypacios: Yes. She genuinely seemed to like people.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:53:59 -0500) Briar: the people who seemed to have sent some time with her seemed to like her. I like the things that Ann Toth spoke of her.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:54:10 -0500) Noir_Falcon: Guests cannot see links in posts. - save that pic
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:54:28 -0500) Noir_Falcon: Sorry, I realize it's technical.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:54:35 -0500) marypacios: Yes. Ann Toth was a good friend.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:55:34 -0500) kingsta_ja: Mary, do you know anything about Ann Toth in her later life?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:55:42 -0500) Briar: I'd love to have heard more from ann.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:57:31 -0500) Mystery_Train: Mary, why do you think Beth had such "wanderlust", an urge to be on the move? Not typical for a Medford girl of her generation, I'm guessing.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:57:56 -0500) marypacios: I'm trying to remember about Ann. She died, I believe, in the 1980s.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:00:54 -0500) kingsta_ja: Mary, what do you think of Mark Hansen, in relation to Ann Toth?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:01:47 -0500) marypacios: Well, like most women during the war, she became self-sufficient. She blossomed and tasted an exciting life traveling to Florida when she was sixteen. Her mother arranged for a place for her to stay. I think she did not adjust to the post-war world. Times were hard. And what she knew best was traveling. She was more sophisticated that your average Medford gal.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:03:57 -0500) kingsta_ja: Mary, that's an interesting observation about her adjustment to post-war life. Why do you feel that to be true?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:04:03 -0500) Noir_Falcon: I like that you see the sophisticated side. We were previously talking about how Harry Hansen seemed to play up the "bum and tease" angle, which is not a nice comment from a cop.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:04:07 -0500) marypacios: Ann seemed to have a special relationship with Mark Hansen. But I'm not sure she was actually his girl friend. She told police that Mark was after Bette and that's why Bette left.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:04:28 -0500) Phoebe_Caulfield: You mentioned that Mark Shostrom interviewed Ann Toth. Did you then interview Mark Shostrom?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:05:31 -0500) marypacios: Yes. Mark Shostrum was very helpful to me.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:05:50 -0500) Noir_Falcon: WB, Enigmatic!
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:06:07 -0500) Enigmatic: Hello everybody. Please carry on.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:06:08 -0500) Phoebe_Caulfield: In what way?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:06:11 -0500) marypacios: If a woman did not put out men of that era were prone to disparage them.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:06:25 -0500) alecker231: Hello Enigmatic
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:07:19 -0500) marypacios: My mother said she alway felt that Bette was "look, don't touch."
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:08:09 -0500) Briar: I've often felt that the men that claimed to be intimate with her weren't 100% honest.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:08:55 -0500) marypacios: There is also the angle of blaming the victim. Sometimes people lessen their fears by thinking it was the person's fault -- something they did, so it can't happen to me.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:09:12 -0500) Noir_Falcon: The main site here seems to reinforce that, Mary, especially in relation to her not wanting to put out with Mark Hansen. It's very unfair of folks to have labeled Bette loose, etc.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:09:45 -0500) marypacios: Briar, I think you've hit the nail on the head.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:10:24 -0500) Noir_Falcon: I agree with Briar too. Guests cannot see images in posts.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:10:55 -0500) Briar: I think that many women have chosen not to speak out on rape and abuse because they seem to be raked over the coals more than the perpetrators of the crime.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:13:02 -0500) Phoebe_Caulfield: Could you say a bit about what Mark Shostrom helped you with, regarding Ann Toth and anything else?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:13:43 -0500) marypacios: In Bette's era women were judged mainly by one criteria, were they chaste. One man made the observation -- a woman like Bette did not have to put out to get a date. A man would be happy just to be seen with her.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:14:21 -0500) Enigmatic: Did she date a lot in Medord?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:14:28 -0500) marypacios: Mark put me in touch with the woman who founf the body.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:15:56 -0500) Noir_Falcon: From a 1/31/1952 Jack Lait Hollywood gossip column: L.A. cops know who the Black Dahlia killer is. And he's
still around. But they, can't pin it on him beyond a reasonable doubt. He's no sex maniac, but an ex-con and mobster who did a manslaughter stretch, came back and was quite a figure around earlier movie folks.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:16:09 -0500) marypacios: She seemed to mostly hang out with groups after work. there were a couple of guys she dated.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:16:34 -0500) Noir_Falcon: Mary, who do you suppose that gossip column is referring to?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:19:29 -0500) Noir_Falcon: Don't mean to put you on the spot by any means... Guests cannot see images in posts.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:19:38 -0500) marypacios: Not sure what mobster fits that bill. I'd have to go back and check on who it might be from the 30s and early 40s. Johnny Stompanato?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:20:08 -0500) Phoebe_Caulfield: Except that Stompanato was a sex maniac Guests cannot see images in posts.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:21:49 -0500) Noir_Falcon: I'd have to look into him more thoroughly. Ellroy's fictionalization taints my image of him too much at present.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:22:34 -0500) alecker231: And Benjamin Siegel
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:23:02 -0500) Noir_Falcon: Bugsy was dead in '47, Alecker. Guests cannot see images in posts.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:23:19 -0500) marypacios: Ellroy did something on Stompananto? Bugsy Siegel was under FBI surveillance at the time of the murder.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:24:15 -0500) Mystery_Train: More generally, Mary, to you think there is anything to the many claims of people saying, "So-and-so told me the case was solved, but they couldn't pin it on the guy"?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:24:32 -0500) Enigmatic: Siegel was killed later in the year, he was alive in January...
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:24:55 -0500) kingsta_ja: Mary, why do you think Elizabeth was so comfortable traveling all the time?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:25:14 -0500) alecker231: yes, he was alive on january 1947
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:25:16 -0500) Noir_Falcon: Stompanato was a character in several Ellroy noir novels.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:26:24 -0500) Noir_Falcon: As was Frank Sinatra and my ex-guitarist Ana Greco's dad Buddy Greco. Guests cannot see images in posts.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:27:51 -0500) Noir_Falcon: Yes, Mary, Donald Wolfe ignored a lot of things... Guests cannot see images in posts.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:27:52 -0500) marypacios: All the purported solutions are just theories, a lot of them are based on conjecture.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:28:55 -0500) marypacios: Bette was comfortable traveling, because she did it a lot. She was pretty, struck up conversations. had a good time.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:29:24 -0500) Noir_Falcon: I think we--here--just want justice to be served... Never to glorify a killer.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:29:30 -0500) alecker231: Don't forget that many persons on this time presented the murderer as a ''egomaniac''
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:32:04 -0500) Briar: When you talked to me after your first chat, you told me that you were willing to discuss Welles more. I've always been intrigued by your theory mostly because of the crazyhouse sets. I found the information in that article you sent me about his violence on the sets of different plays and movies like Othello.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:32:30 -0500) Briar: intriguing
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:33:03 -0500) alecker231: Welles was certainly a egomaniac...8o
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:33:32 -0500) kingsta_ja: Elizabeth seemed to carry all her possessions with her as she traveled about, but she never settled anywhere after leaving her mother's home. Do you think she was more comfortable traveling than putting down roots?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:33:53 -0500) Briar: and the paid hush money to the rape victim
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:35:10 -0500) marypacios: Welles was scary and intimidating. Bette was only 22. I think Matt Gordon's death left her saddened and at loose end.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:35:26 -0500) marypacios: TO ME IT IS GRATIFYING THAT THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO SEE BETTE AS A PERSON WHO DESERVES RESPECT AND COMPASSION,
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:15:02 -0500) marypacios: I don't have the same energy I had a few years ago.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 21:36:47 -0500) Briar: it was horrific to me how she was victimized from the moment she came up missing thru the press treatment and even the the LAPD
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:05:05 -0500) WatchDog: /login Enigmatic
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:20:31 -0500) Noir_Falcon: Phoebe's hilarious! Guests cannot see images in posts.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:20:44 -0500) Phoebe_Caulfield: am I wrong?
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:21:49 -0500) Noir_Falcon: I'd have to look into him more thoroughly. Ellroy's fictionalization taints my image of him too much at present.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:22:34 -0500) alecker231: And Benjamin Siegel
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:23:02 -0500) Noir_Falcon: Bugsy was dead in '47, Alecker. Guests cannot see images in posts.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:23:15 -0500) Phoebe_Caulfield: not til June '47
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:26:43 -0500) marypacios: Which brings to mind, the fact that according to the autopsy report (which the guy with the Chandler theory had accesss to), Elizabeth Short was NOT pregnant.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:31:43 -0500) Mystery_Train: I have to log off now. Thanks so much for chatting with us, Mary!
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:31:54 -0500) Noir_Falcon: That's why I love the main BDiH site so much. It ignores theories. G'night MT! Guests cannot see images in posts.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:33:31 -0500) Briar: The embalming licence
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:35:26 -0500) marypacios: TO ME IT IS GRATIFYING THAT THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO SEE BETTE AS A PERSON WHO DESERVES RESPECT AND COMPASSION,
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:37:47 -0500) marypacios: I have two reactions to my naming Welles as a suspect. People who don't read my book say I'm crazy. People who read my book, like the author of the Empire article, say, Hmmm. it could be Welles, BUT ... maybe ...
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:39:00 -0500) marypacios: Well. I have to go . thank you for inviting me.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:39:00 -0500) Noir_Falcon: Ironic considering Welles' role in Touch of Evil as a crooked cop.
(Thu, 29 Jul 2010 22:39:01 -0500) alecker231: Your book is very good. And I read the first version only...
